    When Daddy Owns the Company
    by Kenneth Copeland

As born-again children of God, you and I are part of the most powerful
family on the face of this earth. In fact, the most notorious “crime families” ever
to exist can’t hold a candle to the family of God—they are only a satanic
counterfeit of whom we truly are.

The Church has the real power, the real goods, the real money. We are the
real movers and shakers in this universe. All the gold in the world doesn’t even
come close to the assets we have access to in our Father’s kingdom.
But there’s a catch to possessing the vast riches and resources at our
    fingertips.

As a believer, you may realize that you work for heaven. You may
understand how to invest in your Father’s business through sowing and reaping,
tithing and giving offerings. You may even be fully aware of the fact that you are
an heir to the family fortune, a joint heir with Jesus (Romans 8:17).
Yet if you don’t know the benefits you qualify for in this lifetime, you can
still be missing out on God’s best for you—even though your Daddy “owns the
    company.”

    Read the Company Manual

We, the Church—the people of God—are not receiving from God on the
level that we should be. And the reason we are not receiving is because we simply do not know the benefits that are rightfully ours as residents of God’s kingdom.

Think about it. You could work for a company all your life and never
enjoy the “full benefits” of that company if you didn’t understand what those benefits were.

Oh, you might glean some information from a 20-minute orientation your
first day on the job. You might receive “inside information” about working there from your co-workers. But even then, you can still be uninformed about your full benefits as an employee.

You have to take time to read through the employee manual, ask
questions, and gain understanding in order to take advantage of everything
    available to you.

For instance, when I was discharged from the United States Army in 1958
the government had stopped offering the GI Bill, which was a benefit provided for military veterans.

Then in 1966, just a few months before going back to college at Oral
Roberts University, I heard that the GI Bill had been reinstated.
So I got real busy. I needed to find out how much money was available to
me for my education. It was already mine because I had served in the U.S. Army, but it took some researching on my part to find out what I needed to do to receive those benefits. I had to become informed before I could obtain what was mine—my benefits.

In Psalm 103:1-2, David talks about the heavenly benefits that belong to
us in this lifetime—not after we die and go to heaven. He writes, “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”

As a man after God’s own heart, David knew there were benefits to
walking in an intimate relationship with the Creator of heaven and earth. In verses 3-5, he goes on to list some of those benefits: “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth
with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s.”
Righteousness, health, peace, deliverance...those are just some of our
rightful benefits as believers. Every one of those things listed belongs to us right
now. Yet, those heavenly benefits will not do us a bit of good on this earth if we
are not aware of them and informed about them.

    No Deposit, No Return

A few years ago, a friend of mine called me for advice about his finances.
He wanted to know what was wrong because he was not receiving from God the
    way he thought he should.
While he described his situation to me, I listened and prayed quietly in the
Holy Spirit inside myself. After a time, the Lord spoke to me and said, Ask him
why General Motors didn’t pay him anything last year.
So I did. At first he was perplexed about the question because he didn’t
    work for GM.
And my friend replied, “Because they didn’t owe me anything.”
Then the Lord told me, Tell him that’s the reason I didn’t pay him
    anything last year.
You can imagine how little he enjoyed hearing that.
But after considering it for a moment, he agreed, “Yeah, I guess so.”
You see, he was a businessman, and it didn’t take him long to figure out
that no company would owe him anything unless he worked for that company, or
had invested into it, or was actually an heir to it. In order for a company to owe
you something you would have to meet at least one of those three criteria.
Well, the kingdom of God is no different. And in this case, God was
saying that He didn’t owe my friend a thing because he was not connected to the
kingdom of God in such a way as to receive any of the benefits he was expecting.
In Ephesians 2:10-13, the Apostle Paul explains our right to our covenant
    benefits this way:
We are [God’s] workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good
works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in
them. Wherefore remember, that ye being in time past Gentiles in
the flesh, who are called Uncircumcision by that which is called
the Circumcision in the flesh made by hands; that at that time ye
were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of
Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no
hope, and without God in the world: But now in Christ Jesus ye
who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
    4
In times past we were gentiles. We were without God, which is what the
word gentile literally means. But now that we have been born again, we have
Christ. We have the Anointed One and His Anointing.
That means we are no longer aliens from the commonwealth of Israel. We
are no longer strangers from the covenants of promise. We have hope. We have
    God.
    When?
Today—in this world. Not just in the “sweet bye-and-bye.”
Now the Hebrew people understood that they were the seed of Abraham,
and as such, they knew all the wealth of God was made available to them. They
were connected to that wealth. They were part of the “chosen” family, meaning
they had covenant rights. They had the power to get wealth because they had the
    covenant blessing of God.
That was the commonwealth of Israel.
That’s why Jesus said about the woman in Luke 13:16 who had a spirit of
infirmity, “Ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan
hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath
    day?”
In other words, here was a woman who was divinely connected to God.
    How?
Through the commonwealth of Israel, through her connection to her father
Abraham. Therefore, she had every right to that commonwealth, which in this
case included her deliverance from demonic oppression. Her only hope was in
    God, as is ours.
Our hope does not come from any of the world’s systems, such as a good
government welfare program or medical program.
No. Our hope comes from knowing who we are in Christ Jesus, knowing
that we are joint heirs with Him.
Hope comes from knowing our benefits and how to receive them. It comes
from knowing that we are part of a company—a company that our Daddy owns.

    Taking Ownership

It’s a wonderful thought to think, Our Daddy owns the company!
But that’s the very problem. For the vast majority of believers on this
earth, it’s just a thought. In reality, in everyday living, it means nothing to them.
Consequently, they live like the rest of the world...in lack, never having enough
“paycheck” at the end of the month.
While it’s true that our heavenly Father does “own the company” and we
have every right to our commonwealth in Him by Christ Jesus—that does not
excuse us from our responsibility to handle our finances according to His
    principles and His ways.
And in the Word of God we find very specific responsibilities laid out for
us concerning our income and our “out go.”
For instance, the very first thing we should do as believers when we
receive any kind of income is have a grateful heart and attitude, and thank God for
    it.
    In Colossians 1, Paul writes:
For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to
pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the
    knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
that ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being
fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of
God; giving thanks unto the Father, which [has already] made us
[able] to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who
hath delivered us from the [authority] of darkness, and [has
already] translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son (verses 9-
    10, 12-13).
Again we see that we do not get into the kingdom of God after we die and
go to heaven. No, we take up residence in God’s kingdom the moment we make
Jesus the Lord of our lives. We are citizens of His kingdom right now.
    6
But while we’ve been “translated” into that kingdom, we still have to
    possess it.
    How?
By following through with our responsibilities. And in this case, that
    includes a heart—and a mouth—full of thanksgiving.
So before you run off to the bank to get your paycheck deposited so all the
other checks you write will clear, take the time to worship and thank God for
    increasing you, for blessing you.
After all it is your heavenly Father—the One who owns the company—
who has given you the power to gain wealth in the first place (Deuteronomy
    8:18).
But if we allow ourselves to get under the pressure of finances, we tend to
forget that fact. Instead of thanking God for the blessings we do have, we start
focusing on what we don’t have.
If that happens, redirect your attention. Get over on the blessings of God
that are in your life and major on His goodness to you. Spend time on who you
are instead of who you’re not. Think of yourself as a child of the living God, a
joint heir with Jesus, not as some broke pauper living paycheck to paycheck.
You’re a royal priest in the household of God—and your Daddy owns the
    company.
    Keep reminding yourself of that!

    Tithing Honors Your Father

The next responsibility you have as a child of the King and joint heir to
the throne is one that really comes down to a matter of honor.
Deuteronomy 26:1-3 tells us what that responsibility is:
And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the
Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and
dwellest therein; that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of
the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God
giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place
    7
which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there. And
thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say
unto him, I profess this day unto the Lord thy God, that I am come
unto the country which the Lord sware unto our fathers for to give
    us.
The moment you receive any income, such as a paycheck, make it a matter
of practice to write the tithe check—the top 10 percent of the income you
receive—and take it before the Lord in an attitude of worship. Put it in a basket if
you want to. And take it before your High Priest, Jesus. He is our “priest that shall
    be in those days.”
Now I realize you will take your tithe to church and place it in a basket
during the “offering” time of the service. But I’m telling you to do this right in the
middle of “life” in your own home—where the bills are screaming at you, where
the pressure is on, where the car is that needs to be repaired.
There you are with your offering before your High Priest, worshiping and
praising Him because He “shall supply all your need according to his riches in
    glory” (Philippians 4:19).
In the middle of all that pressure and clamor from the enemy and the
    world—you start doing the talking!
Deuteronomy 26:4-5 goes on to say: “And the priest shall take the basket
out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the Lord thy God. And thou
shalt speak and say before the Lord thy God...”
“And thou shalt speak and say…” That’s the part where you begin
testifying of God’s goodness to you and your household. You see—yes, the
money is the tithe. But “tithing” is done by faith-filled words—your words.
Mark 4:14 tells us that the sower sows the word.
In this case, the money is just the husk of your seed. Your words are the
heart of it. And the heart of that seed is where the life is.
So start sowing and declaring your future.
And while you’re at it, do not get out your calculator to figure out the tithe
of your income down to the last penny. No, round it off to the next highest whole
    8
number. Your Father has declared 90 percent of it is yours. Besides that, He will
spend His 10 percent on your spiritual welfare and development.
In other words, you are the beneficiary of the whole 100 percent.
So honor your Father by esteeming Him and trusting and obeying His
    Word.
    No Fuss Over Taxes
One final responsibility you have in managing and directing your finances
as a child of the Father who owns the company is this: When you get that
paycheck and see it has a hefty portion already taken out and handed over to your
state and federal government—I’m talking about income taxes—take that as an
opportunity to honor God, as well.
    How?
First of all, by not fussing about how “I no more get a raise and the
government is right there to take it all away!”
Instead, when you find that $500 was withheld for federal income tax, see
that as an opportunity to bless the government. Take time to declare: “Father, I’ve
just sown $500 into this government that You’ve set in authority over me. Your
Word says to pay my taxes without grumbling. So I refuse to grumble. In fact, I
bless that money. I bless it to this government. I bless it for the power of God in
this land. I sow it for wisdom and righteousness in this land. I pay my taxes as a
seed sown. And I reap a harvest of good government, good people and revival
flowing in the state houses of this nation.”
When you and I begin to bless our seed and we begin to possess the land
in this way, our Father will begin to move in our behalf because now we can even
be trusted with our tax money.
So those are some of our responsibilities when it comes to our finances.
But the question remains: Do you know your full benefits as a child of
    God?
When you do—when you know how to handle those benefits
responsibly—you will receive on a higher plane.
    9
Remember, the world market will always have its “ups and downs.” But
you are in a position to go higher and higher. You can pay “wholesale” when
everyone else is paying “retail.” Why?

Because your Daddy owns the company.
